Would a post office be useful?
I'm not thinking of mail or package delivery to player houses. Instead a central location, probably in the South, where players can leave written messages for each other. Everyone would have a box, like a PO box, where others can leave messages for them. The box and its messages would be deleted if the player dies.
Since there would be a lot of boxes, we could "abstract" the whole thing with new commands. You'd go there, type "messages" or "list my messages" etc. for a list of who's written to you. Maybe then "read the message from remy", or "read message 3" or something like that. Also "delete message 3" to keep your world tidy. Then also "write this message for remy:" with your message content. Things like this.
Lisa has noted in another thread that there are now ephemeral messages - messages which disappear after logouts and reboots. This could be a way of leaving permanent messages for one another between sessions.
