Why am I not seeing the signs that are supposed to open in new windows?

Two possibilities:

• JavaScript is disabled in your browser. Enable it and you'll be fine.
• Your browser is blocking popup windows. Tell it to allow popups from the SmartMonsters web site and all will be well.

You really do want to fix this. If you're not seeing the signs, you're missing key information.

NOTE that telnet connections, standard MUD clients, and players in blind mode will have popup content written to their client. This works but it can be cumbersome, 'cos sometimes our popups, for example museum displays, contain a ton of info. If it's possible for you, we encourage use of our Web or mobile clients over these other options.
