TriadCity Message of the Day
2022-05-06
Our implementation of Pets is starting to mature.
Pets now level automatically, without having to take them to the temple for a ritual Bow. They respond to many additional commands, including coming to you from afar when you order them to. They can be Abandoned if you decide you don't want them anymore — but note that in future this can have nontrivial consequences, especially in NorthWest. They grow, add weight, and mature. You'll receive an email if your Pet is in dire need of food or drink.
For a limited time, they still respond to all commands without having to first learn a corresponding Skill. This'll change soon, so, take advantage while you can.
Pets can be your bodyguards, Rescuing you if you're attacked. They themselves can attack on command, allowing you to create private armies if you wish.
Pets are nontrivial responsibilities. Because they remain inside the game world when you log out, you have to ensure they have supplies of or access to food and drink; and you'll want to leave them in safe locations, where they won't be attacked without you there to protect them. There are three new pet parks in NorthWest, and one in the South, where there's water and safety from violent or magical harm. But, as public spaces, you can't guarantee there will always be food there. The safest strategy while you're away is to leave Pets inside your Player House along with a significant supply of appropriate nourishment. Totally up to you, of course.
Note that Pets require appropriate food types. In TriadCity, Dogs, cats and reptiles are carnivores; birds and bears are omnivorous. There will likely be other Pet types in future, which will also require to be fed appropriately. Part of your responsibility to them is to secure adequate supply of the proper grub.
Pets are maturing pretty rapidly. Watch this space.
