A note to all of you budding Malopaths out there: you've got competition. There's a chap named Francois Prelati - famous sorceror, maybe you've heard of him. Anyways, he's got all those Skills you want, and he's got them better than you. And he's not afraid to suck your energy 120 points at a time. So watch out when you wander - the darkness sees you first.

Ouch! Is there a defense?

As far as I know, the best defense is a good offense, and in this case, that means run away first. Unless you think you can take him on . . .
There's probably some kind of defense against that kind of attack, but it's likely a Skill that's not implimented, or a stat that counters it.
