Resting is a good time for chat, but, it's nobody's first choice for what to do often. Tips for avoiding it:

1. Learn where to rest. Some places are much better. The Temple of the King is a really good one.

2. At level 5, learn the Meditate skill. Meditating is the fastest way to regen and you gain exp when using the skill. Always keep your skills maxed to your current level, starting with Learn.

3. Wear bandages. Free from infirmaries in NW.

4. Buy 2 sachets with the symbol of bandages from the herb store in White Plaza. A sachet is a packet of magically "activated" herbs you wear around your neck. When you need to rest, put them both on. When you're done resting, take them off! They last longer if not worn.

5. Ask a high level Herbalist for a regen sachet. If the right Herbalist makes it for you, you basically never have to rest as long as it remains potent.

6. Get a bandages tattoo. My characters each have two. They Meditate for one tick at the Temple and are fully restored. You can buy these from the Prison Ink tattoo shop in NE.

7. Ask a high-level Healer for a Heal. Some can Heal you remotely! They gain exp for doing it and anyway everyone is super nice here.

I often use the Temple or another high-regen place as a "home base". Run around doing my thing, but when energy reaches lower yellow, run back to base for a quick meditate. One tick later, fully restored, back to running around. You can do this in many places around the city.

Best places to rest/sleep/meditate for fastest regen:

1. The Temple of The King on SI.
2. Any of the infirmaries in NW.
3. The Gardener's cottage in the Park NW.
4. The center of the labyrinth in the Park NW.

NOTE that if you choose an alignment, some places may PENALIZE you for resting there. There are Evil places where Good is not welcome and vice-versa. Learn from exploring.

Be careful about where you sleep. Sleeping you're vulnerable. You can't perceive the room. It's easy to steal from you or attack you.

Don't sleep in a public place in NE. Think like a mammal: find a sheltered place where you can hide and are hard to attack. It's generally safe to sleep in public in NW or S, but, I wouldn't. Learn to meditate, be conscious of what's nearby (and earn exp).

Plan for self-care. One way is to work from a base. Use the temple on SI, or get a player house, rent an inn, or find a sheltered place, where fast-regen is best. Use that as your camp. Rest up there, venture out, do your thing, then when you're at half energy go back to camp to rest up again. Plan your adventuring around your energy level. Have a safe place ready to return to.

Resting beneath the Temple on SI is not advised. It seems to be slow regen.

Ppl who have colds or illnesses should never never never rest on SI. Sick ppl resting on SI were the main spreaders of the TC "pandemic" in 2020.
