heya!

so i went to explore midgaard a bit. and i could not kill or chop on the chessboard.. whats with that? is there a another command for these? I used "chop pawn" "kill pawn" and answer was "huh?"

any advice?

I tested "kill pawn" just now and had no troubles.

"Chop" is not listed in the command reference, so I assume there's no such command?

it just didnt work for me. any idea whats wrong with it ?

"Kill" command should've done it. but it kept telling me thats a typo.

Where are you when you use "kill"? What are you trying to kill? What's your complete command? I'll try to test the same thing you're doing.

: kill pawn /chop pawn (Chop is the attack command while wielding an axe')
i tried: hit pawn, but it told me that i can't hit while wielding my cobalt handled axe.
a fellow tc char was able to "knife" pawn and knife a bishop managed to kill it..

got a little frustrating, because in TC my "kill" and "chop" command works fine.

Hey Eetu, Meghan and I have tried a bunch of times to reproduce your problem with "Kill" but it always works fine for us. Our guess is you're wielding a type of weapon which doesn't exist in Midgaard. If you're trying to use Chop you've got an axe, right? I remember from way back there are Dwarven axes but I don't know how they'd compare to the axe weapon type in TC. We suggest buying a long sword in Midgaard, or bringing an opal sword from TC which seems to work for us. Try that, see if it works as you'd expect.

We really want everyone to understand, Midgaard is not a zone inside TriadCity, it's a separate MUD with its own reality. It's actually quite primitive compared to TC. It doesn't have tattoos, so your TC tattoos are meaningless. Your TC skills are worth nothing and vice versa. It doesn't have roles, but it has classes which TC doesn't. You can't bring Midgaard objects into TC. You can bring TC objects into Midgaard but they're not as powerful since in Midgaard you don't have the skills. There are a lot fewer commands. There's no "chop" command, so you can type it all you want and it'll never work. I'm pretty sure the only combat commands are "Hit", "Kill" and "Murder", although the guys have also included "Attack" which wasn't in the original. Crossing from TC to Midgaard and back is not the same as crossing the river to another third. You're leaving one game to enter another. It's unexpected to be able to do that at all. Years ago there was talk of treaties between MUDs and a networking system for leaving one MUD to enter another with the same character. But it never seemed to come to anything. SmartMonsters has actually done it, I'm not sure it's ever happened before. But that's the thing to understand. You're moving from one MUD to another, where things are not the same. Midgaard is perfectly balanced if you put the right group together. Two warriors, a thief, a magician, one or two clerics can take on any challenge, and when they reach level 21 they win. (There's a level cap in Midgaard, right? - serious question.)

It's def primitive compared to TC but that's fun too. I hope more of you will join me there and build some really great groups.

And thanks for the answer. The weapon thing just might be the problem here. I understand that tattoos are removed when entering, guess it’s just a case of downranking a character.

Just wanted to say that you were right Lisa, the problem was with the axe.. I'm now using my dagger and it just cuts into the pawns, knights and priests so nicely =)

I'd really like to see visitors from TriadCity do more than grind exp in the chessboard. There are 1800 rooms in Midgaard. If all you do is rip up the chessboard you're carpetbagging.

Also FYI "native" Midgaard characters are more powerful in Midgaard than characters coming from TC. My character Katniss (Midgaard native) totally outclasses my character Peeta (TriadCity) inside Midgaard, although Peeta is more powerful than Katniss inside TriadCity.

Even though my Koltira isn't a high level char in TC i still enjoy overpowering on the chessboard. give me some time, i just might try to join on your quests.
