TriadCity Message of the Day
2013-11-27

TriadCity's player, builder, and administrator applets are now digitally signed.

What the heck does that mean?

Not that much:

1. The most alarmist of the various security warning dialogs insisted upon by the current Lords of the Computer Industry will no longer trouble your happy browsing experience. There'll still be one message asking you to trust us, SmartMonsters. Well - you can. The TriadCity applet isn't malicious and never has been.

2. We're out a pile of annual bucks for the superspecial "digital signing certificate" we have to buy so that we can digitally sign our applets so that the most alarmist of the various security warning dialogs troubling your happy browsing experience will politely evaporate.

3. That's it. There is no third thing.

Does all this make your computer more secure? Of course not. It was never threatened to begin with.

Are we happy to be forced by the Lords of the Computer Industry to spend the bucks to do this signing thing?

Naaaaa.....

OK well anyway. Meanwhile we're hard at work with the replacement for our player applet. The newfangled and very sharp-looking HTML5 client is online for testing. As of today it has a few glitches but is looking pretty good. We'll let you know when it's ready.
