USE:

  1. Use the command to seal the current room inside a protective magical field.

Sanctuary is among the most demanding of the ritual arts, practiced by Healers, Magicians and Malopaths. When it succeeds, an uncanny purplish aura surrounds the room: a field of force which repels those who would enter.

The field is not absolute. A character of great strength and constitution, particularly one skilled at Bash, may push through by main force. Each character who tries is tested alone: a field which yields to the mightiest member of a group may still repel the group's weaker companions. The field's power and its lifespan scale with the power of its creator, and like all ritual workings it is temporary.

The ritual sequence matters. The room must be an ordinary indoor building room which does not resist magic. It must first be cleansed with RitualClean; a circle must be drawn with DrawMagicCircle; and you yourself must be at one with the cosmos through Meditate. Only then can the lines between realities be obscured.

The working is exhausting. You'll need substantial energy merely to attempt it, and success draws still more deeply. Success depends on your Sanctuary skill, aided by wisdom and intelligence; novices fail often, and failure is itself tiring.

There are many conditions which could prevent you from achieving sanctuary. You may be too tired, the room may be unsuitable or unprepared, or your concentration may simply falter. The Game channel will inform you of the outcome of your command.
