Join SmartMonsters: Terms & Conditions

Howdy! This is Part 1 of 3

You knew this would happen. Fortunately our legalese is here to protect our members as well as our company. We want to do everything possible to ensure that you have a fun, hassle-free experience with us. By agreeing to these terms & conditions you help ensure the same positive experience for everyone else.

  1. I agree to be responsible for my account. I will not loan my login to another player. I will take reasonable precautions to ensure that nobody else gains the ability to login to my account. For example, I won't share my password with anyone. I will notify SmartMonsters immediately if I suspect that someone else has logged-in to my account.
  2. I agree that I will not practice any form of harassment, discrimination, or bias based on race, religion, gender, or sexual preference while playing SmartMonsters' games, visiting their Web site, or interacting with their systems in some other way. I understand that "any form" includes my use of language. I agree to immediately report any form of harassment I witness to an appropriate administrator.
  3. I agree that my contributions to SmartMonsters' games, Web site, or other systems are the exclusive property of SmartMonsters. Examples of "contributions" include posts to bulletin boards, messages exchanged via real time chat systems, my TriadCity characters, and so on.
  4. I agree to inform SmartMonsters of all errors or glitches I discover while interacting with their systems. I agree to follow SmartMonsters' guidelines whenever I make these reports.
  5. I agree that SmartMonsters' administrators and staff may take any measures they believe to be necessary to enforce these policies. The "ultimate" penalty is deletion of a player account, and banning of the person who created it. There are many other possible actions short of this extreme, including suspension of login privileges, chat or bulletin board access, access to the games, and so on. I agree that SmartMonsters may take any such disciplinary actions they believe to be necessary.
  6. I agree that SmartMonsters is not responsible for anything which goes wrong with my computer while I'm playing their games, visiting their Web site, or interacting with their systems in some other way. The same terms apply to my modem, software, and other "peripheral" equipment.
  7. I understand that these terms and conditions may change over time. I agree that it's my responsibility to keep myself informed of these changes. I agree that by logging in to my SmartMonsters account, I accept the version of these terms which is current at that time.

"The space of a fictional world is a construct, just as the characters and objects that occupy it are, or the actions that unfold within it. Typically, in realist and modernist writing, this spatial construct is organized around a perceiving subject, either a character or the viewing position adopted by a disembodied narrator. The hetertopian zone of postmodernist writing cannot be organized in this way, however. Space here is less constructed than deconstructed by the text, or rather constructed and deconstructed at the same time. Postmodernist fiction draws upon a number of strategies for constructing/deconstructing space, among them juxtaposition, interpolation, superimposition, and misattribution."
--Brian McHale,
