How Does TriadCity Differ From Other Multi-Player Role-Playing Games?

TriadCity presents an urban environment.

Regulation kill-the-dragon style adventure MUDs seem to come in just two settings: underground in a maze, or above ground in an essentially rural environment populated by two or three extremely small towns. TriadCity is a different beastie: an emphatically urban environment with all the cultural, economic, environmental, and emotional differences that implies. We're not going to spell out the consequences in great depth here, but you'll find them everywhere when you log in.

"In his essay on Dante, Eliot writes that he learned from Baudelaire how to use the city in his poetry to evoke a sense of an urban hell in the modern world. Baudelaire revealed [...] 'the possibility of fusion between the sordidly realistic and the phantasmagoric, the possibility of the juxtaposition of the matter-of-fact and the fantastic.'"
