USE:

  1. Use form one when there's no possible ambiguity. In the example, there's only one bottle in your inventory.
  2. Use form two or three when more information is needed to interpret the command — that is, there's more than one possible target by the same name to which the command could be applied. In the example, there's a blue bottle, a red bottle, etc.
  3. Use form two or three when more information is needed to interpret the command — that is, there's more than one possible target by the same name to which the command could be applied. In the example, there's a blue bottle, a red bottle, etc.
  4. Use form four when there are many instances of <target> available, and you want to empty one of them in particular.

Naturally a particular drink container must have some liquid in it before it can be emptied.

Empty completely empties a drink container. No liquid remains inside.

Note that Empty dumps the liquid onto the ground. There's a specialized command, Pour, to transfer the water (only) from a liquid container into a basin in the Capitoline district (only); for example, "pour the bottle into the basin".

Note that there are many conditions which may prevent you from emptying as you desire. You may be too weak; or you could be paralyzed; or you could be unable to perceive the item. The Game channel will inform you of the outcome of your command.

Because the command is enabled for "natural language" parsing, you can use all kinds of variations and still be understood. "empty out my bottle", "dump out my bottle", "pour out the bottle until it is empty", "empty out the bottle onto the ground", and many others will all do fine.
