USE:

  1. Use form one when there's no possible ambiguity. In the example, you're only carrying one staff in your inventory.
  2. Use form two or three when more information is needed to interpret the command - that is, there's more than one possible item by the same name to which the command could be applied. In the example, you're carrying an ivory sword, a short sword, etc.
  3. Use form two or three when more information is needed to interpret the command - that is, there's more than one possible item by the same name to which the command could be applied. In the example, you're carrying an ivory sword, a short sword, etc.
  4. Use form four when there are many instances of <thing> in your inventory and you want to wield one of them in particular.

Note that items must be currently in your inventory to be wieldable. If an item is inside a container, it isn't wieldable.

Not every item is necessarily wieldable. Also, you may be unable to Wield an item due to many possible constraints: not enough energy; paralysis; blindness; etc. As with all commands, the Game Channel will inform you of the outcome of your action.

You're able to Wield just one item at a time. Wielding is a special form of item use, such as wielding a knife or other weapon. This is how you put that particular item to its specific use.

Note the difference between holding and wielding an item. Items which can be put to violent purposes must be wielded to be effective. So, you wield a gun or an axe or a knife to use it; while you Hold a flashlight.

"Despite their familiarity with the technology, and their well-deserved reputation for innovation (if not chutzpah), the games industry is only now emerging from a creative and financial slump, and only now seeing the possibilities of building games for a market that appeals to more than teenage boys."
